I received a tin of 132 Prismacolor Pencils with 50 sheets of white Mi-Teintes paper for Christmas

Wow, how lucky am I! How do I use these?

I am a marker girl and pencils are foreign to me. Other than using white or black to highlight areas coloured with Copic markers, pencils weren't in the equation. Previous to receiving this gift, a small 24 set of pencils had been gathering dust in the corner of the craft room with only the white and black used.

Well, that is about to change! I have signed up for the monthly Pencil class at Kit and Clowder. Now I will be doing both the Marker and Pencil classes.

The Pencil class image for December was so cute I decided to start my learning process with it. Who doesn't like a cute teddy bear holding flowers!

I have lots to learn when colouring with pencils. So many layers are used to build shadows, highlights and flatten paper tooth. Breaking down the image and colouring in steps is the way to go for me. My hands need a break in between all the layering.

We woke up to a skim of snow covering everything this morning making it a perfect day to grab a coffee and head to the craft room. I have a few images to finish colouring before I start making Christmas cards.

One of those images just happened to be these cute partying penguins from the October Kit and Clowder class. I have coloured it up following the class instructions and suggested colours. The tree looked like it was going to be difficult but following Alyce's steps, it all came together nicely.

I coloured this image with Copic markers and used a Prisma white pencil for the falling snow and a white gel pen for the tree highlights. Before I add this cute colouring to a card some glitter maybe in order. After all, everything is better at Christmas with a little glitter!

Time seems to fly by faster these days. I hope you all found some time to colour, make a card or craft between the beach runs, work and kids play dates.

My recent colourings and cards haven't made it onto the blog. It is much easier to type a few lines on the Colours n Cards Facebook page and hit post. A writer I am not!!

That being said, once again out came the big girl panties as I decided it was time to start posting once again. What better way to gingerly slide back into blogging then with a finished colouring of the monthly marker class at Kit and Clowder.

This class covered hand drawn backgrounds, magical skies and transparent fairy wings. All techniques that would be useful for future colourings to adorn cards and crafts.
Today I am sharing my version of the April monthly Kit & Clowder colouring class. This month the class image was Sparkle from Mos Digital Pencil. I elected to use the class image but you could apply the same colouring techniques to an image of your choice.

I must admit Sparkle's pleats and folds were a bit of a challenge but that is one of the many things I like about the classes. They push me to explore images and techniques I would not normally try.

The first two pictures below are work in progress shots of Sparkle. The second picture was taken before the back ground was added. Petty intimidating to have the image all coloured then try a background technique you haven't done before.

My mind starts with the "what ifs" when it comes to backgrounds. Does yours? Time to pull on the big girl panties!
You can find this image in the March Kit and Clowder monthly class.

While gathering the copic markers I was going to use I realized that this was going to be a first for me. Intimidating! You bet it was! I had never coloured a bird image before!!

It all came together and I must admit I am pleased with the result. No plans to make a card at the moment. I may look around for a frame instead.

I found that breaking the image into categories like leaves, berries and flowers made the image less intimidating.

I started with the leaves and then moved on to the berries and flowers.

Colouring sections or categories seems to work well for me. There is never enough time to do a complete image in one sitting these days.

Does anyone else out there have issues staying on top of their blogs like I do? You will find me posting on the Colours n Cards Facebook page regularly but I consider blogging to be a new adventure and a bit overwhelming still. I find the convenience of posting and sharing on Facebook much easier as I am there daily following groups of amazingly creative artists, crafter's and friends.

Anyone that follows my Facebook page knows I am an advocate of the colouring classes by Alyce Keegan at Kit and Clowder. I am enrolled in a few of her online technique classes as well as the Creative Online Monthly class. If you are looking for tips to improve your skills or just starting out I would highly recommend checking out the Kit and Clowder website and Facebook page. You won't be disappointed!

Today I am sharing an image by Power Poppy coloured with Copic markers following printed instructions from the monthly February marker class. Alyce also includes videos with the classes but I chose to follow the printed instructions this time around. Yes, they are that good!!
Two more have joined the Christmas card parade.

Once again I am using digital stamps by Heather Valentin. You can find her stamps along with some awesome colouring books at Lacy Sunshine Stamps.

Watch out! Here comes Reggie's Winter Sled.

Paper, ribbon and pearl embellishment are from my stash. Snowflake die: Giovanna Snowflake. Digital stamp coloured with Copic Markers. I used Stampendous Winter Wonderland embossing powder to create snow and add dimension. Crystal Stickles lend sparkle to the snow and background. Sentiment was stamped with a clear stamp and Memento black ink.

Do you?

With that in mind I am still in full card making mode. I try to make all my Christmas cards but unfortunately fall short at times. I really must start earlier.

Today's card is using a digital stamp from the talented artist Heather Valentin. I was lucky to have been a past design team member at Lacy Sunshine and have a soft spot for her images.

I have been making mine for a few years now. Some are whimsical, some are cute and sometimes a few traditional ones join the mix.

I use digital images from a variety of talented artists and the ones I have used for these cards can be found over at Mo's Digital Pencil.

Let the Christmas card parade begin!
I am sure there a few out there that can relate to this. Who hasn't precariously carried boxes of Christmas decoration and had to retrieve a few. Coloured with Copics and touches of Red Spica pen for shine on the bulbs. The edges of card stock were distressed. Snowflakes are from my stash.

Today's share is a card I am calling Sunset Limbo, made for my son's birthday.

He wanted everything to be low key despite it being a milestone 21st birthday.

I think the pub get-to-together the night before may of had something to do with that .. lol.

His dinner of choice, pizza, at home, no fuss. Yes, we did have presents, cake, candles and singing.

I wish him many future sunset limbos, fun and good times as an ADULT.

Today I am sharing a card made in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month which means Pink is the theme. For this card I used Floral Masquerade from Aurora Wings. So much fun to colour all the flowers here.

Floral Masquerade was coloured with copic markers and cut out using the largest of the spellbinder Triple Tear die set and my Sizzix Big Kick. I am on a "use up scrap paper mission" so the papers used are from my scrap stash. I distressed the paper edges to soften the overall look of the card. The embellishments are also from my stash. The lace came from Michael's and the whimsical feathers came from the dollar store, I think. Why the feathers ... they made me smile!

You will find a list of the copic markers I used at the bottom of this post.
Coloured following the online monthly colouring class from Kit and Clowder. For the most part, the colours I used are the ones Alyce suggested in class. I did have to sub out a few of the reds. Can't wait to see what she has in store for us next class!

Here is Fireman Luka from La-La Land Crafts merged with a background created for the Kit and Clowder September class coloured with copic markers.
No bows and lace! It is so hard to make cards for men!

That being said sometimes a card comes together with the help of the perfect image, a bit of creativity and holding your tongue the right way, lol.

My hubby plays darts in a dart league, yes ... there is such a thing! I wanted to have a "darts theme" on his birthday card and found the perfect image at Lacy Sunshine Stamps.

After colouring Tipsy Timmy with copics it was time to create a "dart" type background. Using papers from my stash box, I created a pub style background and added Timmy with dimensional dots. Hubby loved it!

The dart board was from a picture I had, resized, printed and cut using a circle die and the Big Kick.

This card did make an appearance on the Colours n Cards Facebook page but somehow missed being blogged about.

This card was made for my Dad's birthday. When it comes to cards for Dad I am always looking for images that are different and quirky. Something that will make him smile.

Bloobel Stamps to the rescue! If your looking for something different check out this digital stamp line. The image used on this card is Moustache Ballerina and he was coloured with Copic markers. I kept the card simple so the image would take center stage among the stars.
I seem to be posting more on the Colours n Cards Facebook page than on the blog these days.

Why? Well .. I had full intentions of making cards with my recent colourings and posting the cards on the blog but I haven't been "card making" motivated lately. I prefer to wait until, dare I say .. the crafty planets line up and everything seems to flow from start to finish! Do you ever feel like that?

In the mean time, I will continue colouring and adding to my "ready to card" pile while I wait for some card making mojo to return.

I was going to add all the colourings to this post but in order to keep it short lets just showcase one artist tonight. I have coloured more than I thought :)

Here are a few coloured digi's from Lacy Sunshine Stamps by Heather Valentin. If you follow me on Facebook this will be a deja vu experience for you.
I seem to be on a colouring roll lately.

Today I am sharing Dragon Orb by Molly Harrison Art from the February clouring class at Kit and Clowder. I've had the image printed for quite awhile but for some reason never got around to colouring it.

How fun are those dragon wings!!

I loved doing this background technique. Amazing what you can do with 2 Copic refills, a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.

My colours of choice for the background were G21 and BV01 because those were the refills I had that seemed to suit the coloured image. Stars were added with white pen. Coloured with Copic markers.
If your looking for a reasonably priced class where you can learn new techniques every month and finish a whole project I suggest you check out Alyce's classes. They are easy to follow with both written and video instructions.

This months class used images from La La Land Crafts. This image called Garden Marci. I have coloured the barnyard scene with Copic markers and staged the "photo shoot" outside in my garden, which is 2 tomato plants ... lol.

The sky was intentionally left streaky to blend in with a flaw in the paper that didn't take the colour well. What I thought was a small flaw was in more than one spot but it all worked out in the end.

<span style="color: #666666; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Since I wasn't in a position to hit the lake or go swimming I decided to get out my copics and colour a "cool" water scene instead.
Today I am sharing a recently completed "dude" card. I made this card for my middle son's birthday. In the past couple of years he has been bitten by the racing bug and drives a truck in the "crash to pass" races.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">After some Googling I found the perfect images at Kenny K Stamps. Merging these two digi's, Cool Trucker and Honey Sparks together created the perfect image for his card.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Seeing this was cartoonish .. is that even a word, I kept the card bright and minimal. You may not be able to tell from the photograph but I did get some sparkle in using black glitter tape on two corners and glitter around the "silver" cup. I know it looks black but it is silver.
