Let's Start The Christmas Card Parade

Are you making your Christmas cards this year?  I have been making mine for a few years now. Some are whimsical, some are cute and sometimes a few traditional ones join the mix.

I use digital images from a variety of talented artists and the ones I have used for these cards can be found over at Mo's Digital Pencil.

Let the Christmas card parade begin!

Carolers Three is coloured with Copics but I didn't keep track of the colours.  I used Snow-Tex to create dimensional snow.  Embellishments and paper are from my stash.

Aren't these elves just the cutest thing!!  All embellishments and paper are from my stash of bits and pieces.  Colouring was done with Copic markers listed below.  I also used Spica Red pen and a Gold gel pen, Sparkles are stickles.

I am sure there a few out there that can relate to this.  Who hasn't precariously carried boxes of Christmas decoration and had to retrieve a few.  Coloured with Copics and touches of Red Spica pen for shine on the bulbs.  The edges of card stock were distressed.  Snowflakes are from my stash.

Rory and Mikey - Flowers For You

Happy New Year Everyone!

Today I am showcasing a card made with Rory and Mikey - Flowers for You by artist Heather Valentin. You can find more Rory and Mikey stamps over at Lacy Sunshine Shoppe.

This card will be on the Lacy Sunshine Blog with other cards by the Creative Design Team A.  Why not join in the fun and add your card to the Anything Goes challenge!

This card was a bit of a challenge for me.  I wanted to use my new dies from Spellbinders, Triple Tear, but wasn't sure how I was going to do that and showcase this lovely image.  After a few practice runs through the BigKick a plan started developing and my wish list started growing.  A magnetic plate would have been handy as the die shifted when I cut out half circles on each side of the card.  I ended up using some tape to hold it!

This all started started with a piece of card stock 8.5 x 5.5 inches scored at 2 1/8 and 6 3/8 inches.  Next step was to cut out the half circles and fold along the score lines.  Using the largest dies from the Triple Tear set cut the fancy trim for around the circle out of white card stock. The card is going to open so the die cut must be cut in half.  The front of the card was covered with heart paper from my stash and the die cut trim added around the circles on the front of the card.  The inside back of the card is coverd in the same paper as the front.  Center Rory and Mikey and attach in place.  I glued my card onto a slightly larger sheet of card stock because I felt it needed something more.  Use a piece of ribbon or glue a strip of card stock together large enough to wrap around your card to keep it closed.  Add a  few embellishments and your done.

Nair Indian Maiden Easel Card

Here is my entry for the Team A November challenge.  I was given a digi called Nair Indian Maiden by artist Heather Valentin.  For this challenge we were asked to use Autumn colours.  I decided to make a shaped easel card and cut the card shape out with my Cricut.  Paper, burlap and embellishments are from my stash.  Using burlap is a first for me and I must admit I quite like the effect.

You can find Nair Indian Maiden with her friends at  Lacy Sunshine Stamp - the Crafter's Candy Shoppe.

Sammi Boo's Hot Cocoa Christmas Card

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by.  Tonight I am sharing a Christmas card using the image Sammi Boo's Hot Cocoa.  She is one of the wonderful digital stamps that can be found at Lacy Sunshine Stamps.  Heather has a great selection of Christmas digi's for all your Christmas cards and crafts.

I went out of my comfort zone with this stamp and decided to create a scene.  A bit ambitious for me .. like I know how to colour trees!  Thankfully Copics blend nicely and hide some of the "what were you thinking" marks.  When all was said and done it all came together in the end.

Todays Colors

Today I am sharing Frozen Sweet Pea - Blooming Beauty and Iced Bleeding Heart from Lacy Sunshine Stamps.

Both digital stamps were coloured with Copics.  I have a small set of water colour pencils that have been calling to me so today I experimented on the backgrounds with them.  They didn't come out exactly as I had envisioned but it was fun to try something different.

As you may notice I also came across my jar of Snow-tex and have added it to both images as well as glitter, Stickles crystal, Stickels lace and Folk Art acrylic paint. Thanks for stopping by.

I see progress in these little pieces of art

If you would like to improve your coloring I can highly recommend taking a few classes over at Kit and Clowder.

Just looking at these completed projects makes me happy to be in the class.  Don't you think they look like little piece of art? I do! They now are framed and have found a new home on my craft room wall.
