Magical Bookworm Fairy Scene

Can you believe we are nearing the end of summer!  Time seems to fly by faster these days.  I hope you all found some time to colour, make a card or craft between the beach runs, work and kids play dates.

My recent colourings and cards haven't made it onto the blog.  It is much easier to type a few lines on the Colours n Cards Facebook page and hit post.  A writer I am not!!

That being said, once again out came the big girl panties as I decided it was time to start posting once again. What better way to gingerly slide back into blogging then with a finished colouring of the monthly marker class at Kit and Clowder.

This class covered hand drawn backgrounds, magical skies and transparent fairy wings.  All techniques that would be useful for future colourings to adorn cards and crafts.

Now isn't this a magical place to catch up on your reading.

I have include some of the WIP (work in progress) pictures below that show some of the steps that lead up to the completed colouring.

Robin Colouring - Welcome Spring

This robin colouring is perfect to welcome the first days of spring.  You can find this image in the March Kit and Clowder monthly class.

While gathering the copic markers I was going to use I realized that this was going to be a first for me.  Intimidating!  You bet it was!  I had never coloured a bird image before!!

It all came together and I must admit I am pleased with the result.  No plans to make a card at the moment.  I may look around for a frame instead.

The finished colouring with a background added.

I found that breaking the image into categories like leaves, berries and flowers made the image less intimidating.

I started with the leaves and then moved on to the berries and flowers.

Colouring sections or categories seems to work well for me. There is never enough time to do a complete image in one sitting these days.

Do you find yourself doing bits and pieces when time allows also?

I think it looks good either way!

Christmas Cards Featuring Reggie & Rory

I hope your not getting tired of Christmas cards yet!  Two more have joined the Christmas card parade.

Once again I am using digital stamps by Heather Valentin.  You can find her stamps along with some awesome colouring books at Lacy Sunshine Stamps.

Watch out!  Here comes Reggie's Winter Sled.

Paper, ribbon and pearl embellishment are from my stash. Snowflake die: Giovanna Snowflake. Digital stamp coloured with Copic Markers.  I used Stampendous Winter Wonderland embossing powder to create snow and add dimension.  Crystal Stickles lend sparkle to the snow and background.  Sentiment was stamped with a clear stamp and Memento black ink.

Rory is ready to do some decorating!  This is Rory's Decorations.

Rory is coloured with Copics and unfortunately I forgot to write down the colours used. Let's Start The Christmas Card Parade

Are you making your Christmas cards this year?  I have been making mine for a few years now. Some are whimsical, some are cute and sometimes a few traditional ones join the mix.

I use digital images from a variety of talented artists and the ones I have used for these cards can be found over at Mo's Digital Pencil.

Let the Christmas card parade begin!

Carolers Three is coloured with Copics but I didn't keep track of the colours.  I used Snow-Tex to create dimensional snow.  Embellishments and paper are from my stash.

Aren't these elves just the cutest thing!!  All embellishments and paper are from my stash of bits and pieces.  Colouring was done with Copic markers listed below.  I also used Spica Red pen and a Gold gel pen, Sparkles are stickles.

I am sure there a few out there that can relate to this.  Who hasn't precariously carried boxes of Christmas decoration and had to retrieve a few.  Coloured with Copics and touches of Red Spica pen for shine on the bulbs.  The edges of card stock were distressed.  Snowflakes are from my stash.

Flowers, Feathers & Pink Butterflies

Happy Tuesday!

Today I am sharing a card made in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month which means Pink is the theme.  For this card I used Floral Masquerade from Aurora Wings.  So much fun to colour all the flowers here.

Floral Masquerade was coloured with copic markers and cut out using the largest of the spellbinder Triple Tear die set and my Sizzix Big Kick.  I am on a "use up scrap paper mission" so the papers used are from my scrap stash.  I distressed the paper edges to soften the overall look of the card.  The embellishments are also from my stash.  The lace came from Michael's and the whimsical feathers came from the dollar store, I think.  Why the feathers ... they made me smile!

You will find a list of the copic markers I used at the bottom of this post.

Cute Fireman Alert!

Now how cute is this image!   Coloured following the online monthly colouring class from Kit and Clowder.  For the most part, the colours I used are the ones Alyce suggested in class. I did have to sub out a few of the reds.  Can't wait to see what she has in store for us next class!

Here is Fireman Luka from La-La Land Crafts merged with a background created for the Kit and Clowder September class coloured with copic markers.

I just might have to make a card out of this one.

Recent Colourings

Hi all.  I seem to be posting more on the Colours n Cards Facebook page than on the blog these days.

Why?  Well .. I had full intentions of making cards with my recent colourings and posting the cards on the blog but I haven't been "card making" motivated lately.  I prefer to wait until, dare I say .. the crafty planets line up and everything seems to flow from start to finish!   Do you ever feel like that?

In the mean time, I will continue colouring and adding to my "ready to card" pile while I wait for some card making mojo to return.

I was going to add all the colourings to this post but in order to keep it short lets just showcase one artist tonight. I have coloured more than I thought :)

Here are a few coloured digi's from Lacy Sunshine Stamps by Heather Valentin.  If you follow me on Facebook this will be a  deja vu experience for you.

Garden Marci

Today I am popping in to share my version of the August marker class at Kit and Clowder.  If your looking for a reasonably priced class where you can learn new techniques every month and finish a whole project I suggest you check out Alyce's classes. They are easy to follow with both written and video instructions.

This months class used images from La La Land Crafts.  This image called Garden Marci.  I have coloured the barnyard scene with Copic markers and staged the "photo shoot" outside in my garden, which is 2 tomato plants ... lol.

coloured garden marci on colours n cards blog

The sky was intentionally left streaky to blend in with a flaw in the paper that didn't take the colour well.  What I thought was a small flaw was in more than one spot but it all worked out in the end.

Thanks for stopping by.  Feel free to leave a comment.  I would love to hear from you.
You can find more colouring and cards on the Colours n Cards Facebook page.

Seeanna Mermaid

Whew .... it has been hot outside these past few days!  I have taken over the kitchen table to colour as my upstairs craft room was to warm this weekend. At one point I think it hit 30c!!

Since I wasn't in a position to hit the lake or go swimming I decided to get out my copics and colour a "cool" water scene instead.

What's more perfect for a water scene than a mermaid digi!  I have used Seeanna Mermaid by Amanda Byron to frolic in the ocean today.  You can find more of her digi's over at Farey Ink.

Using some techniques from Kit and Clowder July 2015 Create and Learn class I created this cool ocean background.  I don't have the copic colours I used handy but I can tell you they were similar to the class ones.

I have entered her in the Faery Ink Coloring Challenge on the Markers! Papers! Digis! facebook page.

Sharing a couple of cuties today.

Hi all.  Popping in today to share two recent copic colourings.  Both of the shares today were freebies from two of the many sponsors of the Kit and Clowder 10,000 party.

Up first is Fairy Swing from All Dressed Up Stamps.  Isn't she sweet?

This next coloured digi is from East Wind Digi Stamps.  Super Chunky was a bit of a challenge for me.  Like I know how to colour a cat!

Well .. on came the big girl panties and out came the Copics!  Yes there is room for improvement but one has to start to improve!! Right!

Colouring Crystals

Hi everyone!  It has been forever since I last posted.  Summer days find me hanging outside more and inside colouring less.  As most of you know I am a huge fan of Kit & Clowder and have been taking the online monthly class since ...well, forever.  The beauty of these classes are you end up with a finished project/image and you can do them whenever, no time limit!

Today I am sharing my progress with the July class using the beautiful digi Crystal by Lineartsy .  First impression seeing this image so beautifully coloured by Alyce ... you got to be kidding!!  I am never going to be able to do that!

I purchased, sized and printed Crystal, printed out the class, organized my copics then proceeded to find every excuse not to sit down and start colouring!  Maybe I will just read some of the class instructions, after all I wanted to know how to colour crystals.

That was all it took!  Following Alyce's instructions and working in sections ... Hey, I can do a section ... helped me to finish this beautiful image.

Father's Day Card

Hi Everyone. Today I am sharing a Father's day card I made up using one of the unique and quirky stamps from Bloobel Stamps. This stamp is called Bookworm Bob and I am sure he is going to bring a smile to my Dad's face when he receives this card.

After colouring up Bookworm Bob with my copic markers I decided the image looked a little bare and added in the background.  For me adding a background is much easier  than fussy cutting around an image.  I have ruined more than one colouring fussy cutting!!

The card was created using papers and embellishments from my stash of supplies.
